Unabashed Musings
Richie Havens has died. He was 72. Hear an archival interview and session with the folk icon on NPR’s Weekend Edition from 2008.
I never saw a solo musician as gripping as Richie Havens on stage; just him and his guitar, pouring out his soul, making us all yearn to match his passion. Mr. Havens, you will be missed.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs lay down the law at last night’s Webster Hall show.

“A large drop of sun lingered on the horizon and then dripped over and was gone, and the sky was brilliant over the spot where it had gone, and a torn cloud, like a bloody rag, hung over the spot of its going. And dusk crept over the sky from the eastern horizon, and darkness crept over the land from the east.”
